Project Description

Blendscape

2014
Design:David Zhewei Feng

Blendscape is a new gallery extension of the Norman Fisher House designed by Louis Kahn.

The project itself is a hybrid that blends the topological transformation of Naum Gabo’s sculpture, the trope of Louis Kahn’s architecture philosophy and the thresholds of the Fisher House. By generating variations from the topological transformation process, the project acquires its own identity with new morphology that served the space with unique elegance and vitality. This project also carefully examines the thresholds of the Fisher House, including the stone plinth as a spatial threshold and the wood façade as a material threshold.
